For sale is this great looking Eterna-Matic watch from, I believe, the 1960's. As you'll see from the photo's, the gloss black dial is in very good condition and contrasts very nicely with silver baton hour markers and fine silver dagger hands. The lume on the hands is original and still gives a faint glow. There is some tiny speckling on the dial that I have shown in the last picture. On the wrist, it's barely visible unless you catch the light a certain way, but do be aware of it and please check the photos.

The case and case back are steel and in good condition. There is some age-related wear - the sides and lugs are not perfectly mirror polished, for example. There are some minor marks on the lugs and a small bump in the case back - as well as some marks from someone's prior attempt to open the case.

Again, the pictures tell the full story, so please check them out. The crown is marked with the Eterna logo. Pulling it out to the first position allows you to change the time. Pulling it out to the second position advances the date - release and repeat for continued advancement.

You can also forward the date in the traditional way by winding the time back from the midnight date change to 8pm and then back through midnight again. The case is not water-resistant. Although I have fitted a new gasket, I have not tested it for water resistance. More generally, I would advise that you don't treat any vintage watch as water-resistant and that you keep watch and water well away from each other.

Case dimensions are 36.5mm wide incl. Lug to lug is 41.5mm. The watch is 11mm thick.

A brand new LBS leather strap has been fitted, with silver coloured buckle. The 1422UD movement is an automatic 17 jewel model running at 18,000bph. After a full service (see below), it's running approximately 0-10 seconds a day fast dial up / dial down / crown down, with a dial up / down amplitude of 270-290 degrees and a beat error of 0-0.3. I have a diploma in Clock and Watch Servicing from the BHI (British Horological Institute) having successfully completed the relevant written and practical examinations. Although this is not (yet) a full time profession for me, I do take a professional approach to my work.

When I say'fully serviced', what you're getting is a watch or clock that's been stripped down to its component parts, including mainsprings out of barrels and jewels out of their safety settings. These are then cleaned and rinsed in the proper horological cleaning solutions and then re-assembled and lubricated using the appropriate oils and greases.

The watch is then timed, adjusted and tested. If you have any questions that aren't answered above, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm happy to provide any additional information I can.
