Original vintage 1969 ZENITH DEFY A3642 Automatic Cal. A very collectible gents classic watch - The original Zenith DEFY. This distinctive octagonal-cased model was Zenith's first ever DEFY - the one that started the Zenith DEFY range all the way back in 1969 and a range that is still in production today. In January 2022 Zenith have seen fit to honour this first-ever DEFY and have re-made this watch faithful to the original design. It is called the Zenith DEFY Revival A3642. The very first DEFY model was released in 1969 and housed Zenith's automatic Calibre 2552PC - and this watch is a great example of this original DEFY - in full working order and original unpolished condition.

It has a unique octagonal case which measures 37mm x 44mm, excl. Crown, and has a really solid presence on the wrist. It is a pre-owned vintage watch approximately 50 years old and as would be expected, it is possible to find some signs of wear and ageing, but this particular watch appears to be in original and unpolished condition.

There is also an aged patina to the dial, most evident around the Zenith star, just below 12. The original lume plots around the dial and the lume to the hands has darkened with age, but all remains intact. Please see the photos to fully appreciate this old classic Zenith. All of the edges of all the angles on the case are crisp and this watch appears to have all it's original components, including its over-sized screw-down Zenith-signed crown and screw-down case back with its Zenith logo crisp & clear and serial number still legible.

This watch is powered by Zenith's automatic Cal. 2552 PC movement and Zenith are well known for the high quality and reliability of their in-house movements - so much so that Rolex used a Zenith movement for their Rolex Daytona. It has been tested and is in full working order. It is attached to a high quality handmade Italian dark brown vintage style suede strap with steel pin buckle, which we think suits it really well. It will accommodate a wrist of just slightly over 8 diameter.

The original Zenith Defy watch in its distinctive octagonal case in all-original condition and in full working order. A fantastic collectible vintage watch.
